Richard Lee Whitright

Richard Lee Whitright, 86, of Eau Claire passed away Wednesday, March 17, 2021 at Spectrum Health Lakeland in St. Joseph.

Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 30, at Zion United Church of Christ Cemetery, 9134 Black Lake Road, Eau Claire.

He was born July 28, 1934 to John and Emma Whitright. Richard served his country with the United States Army. On May 16, 1964, he married the former Mary Freehling and raised two children. He worked and retired from Sunstrand Heat Transfer in Dowagiac, while also farming, which he continued.

Dick was a member of Zion United Church of Christ. He also enjoyed being a 4-H leader and club coordinator. Dick was a kind and good-hearted man and loved all aspects of farming, from being in the fields to riding his gator. But the thing he loved the most was spending time with his family and friends.

Survivors include his wife, Mary (Freehling); daughter and son-in-law, Joan and Chris Doty; dear friend, Pam Skoda and children; loving brother and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and friends.

Richard is preceded in death by his son, James Richard Whitright; parents, John and Emma Whitright; brother, JD Whitright; and sisters, June Felgner and Florence Dohm.
