Chad Nathen Medlin passed away on November 2, 2024, at the young age of 36. He was born in Petoskey, Michigan, on October 7, 1988. He weighed a massive 11 lbs. 3 oz and kept growing. Chad was known for his humorous and charming personality and patriotic attire. He was a loving father, devoted son, and caring brother whose generous spirit and unwavering love touched the lives of all who knew him. Chad devoted his life to the service of others.
Chad was raised in Michigan, where he attended grade school in the Stevensville school district and graduated from Eau Claire High School in 2007. In September 2007, he enlisted in the United States Army as a Construction Engineer and completed his training at Ft. Leonard, MO. Upon completion of training, he was stationed at Fort Bragg, NC, where he was assigned to Alpha Co. 37th Engineer Battalion. Chad established numerous enduring relationships in this home away from home. His Army service encompassed a deployment to Iraq from 2009 to 2010. He served with great dedication until 2011.
Following his time of service, he returned to Michigan. Throughout this time, he helped countless individuals and contributed his abilities to a range of organizations. He was employed with Randy’s Recycling, Deerpath Excavating, Berrien County Road Commission, Kalin Construction, and Willey Construction. Willey Construction was the organization to which he dedicated his time and enjoyed serving alongside family and close friends. He responded on-call to restore power and aid those impacted by natural disasters throughout the country. His selfless service led him to start his own business, Battleground Excavating.
As a Firefighter FF3080 and First Responder, he proudly represented the Eau Claire Fire Department, embodying the spirit of heroism and selflessness. Chad cherished his involvement with the Eau Claire Fire Department, as it was another family to him.
Gatherings with family or friends for any occasion were Chad's most enjoyable times. He was the true definition of the life of the party. He enjoyed racing his #1776 red cyber stock, loved his racecar family, and was a proud Hartford Speedway driver.
Due to the amount of love shared in Chad's life, he is survived by a lot of family. He is survived by his wife, Austin; his children Maycie, Mattie, and Rhett; his stepchildren Kacee, Eli, and Sophia. Also surviving are his siblings, Mike Mang (Shawna), Mike Medlin (Heather), Tom Clark, Tiffany Hysell, and Kortney Hysell, and numerous amounts of nieces and nephews. He is survived by both parents Lisa Willey (Brad), and Michael Medlin (Sue). He is preceded in death by his sister Casey Mang.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Bowerman Funeral Home in Eau Claire, Michigan. A Public visitation will take place Thursday November 7 at Bowerman Funeral Home in Eau Claire from 5:00-8:00 PM. There will be a funeral service Friday November 8 at Bright Star Tabernacle in Eau Claire at 12:00 PM. Burial will follow at Caldwell Cemetery in Eau Claire. Patriotic attire is highly encouraged at both the visitation and the funeral service.
