Darwin James Sanders

Darwin James Sanders passed away on October 1st, 2023 at his home in Eau Claire, MI.


Darwin proudly and honorably served in the United States Military in Vietnam for the United States Army from 1971-1972.


He was born August 16, 1950 to Melvin and Helen Sanders. Dar graduated from Eau Claire High School in 1969. Dar enjoyed many things such as his time in the military, fishing, hunting out west, Budweiser, working with his backhoe and other equipment. Dar was a regular at the Village Tavern in Eau Claire. Dar was self-employed and worked in excavating for most of his life. For many years, Dar was a grave digger for the local cemeteries in Eau Claire.


Dar leaves behind his loving wife of 42 years, Sharon. His two daughters Kelly Sanders and Darcy Sanders. His mother Helen Sanders. Granchilden, Noah Sanders, Elliot Sanders, Austin Gonzalez, Tyler Gonzalez, Alexis Rios, Abel Sims, Sadie Sims, Roger Sims, and Rylie Sims. Two great grandchildren, Zaire and Miles Stone. Sisters, Charlotte (Rich) Schram, Nancy (Bob) Schilling, Beverly (Dick) Demski. Preceding him in passing his sister Melba (Larry) Newton and his father Melvin Sanders.


Dar had made many friends through his life’s journey and will be remembered by all.


Arrangements have been entrusted to Bowerman Funeral Home. Cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will be held in Dar’s honor at Veteran’s Park in Eau Claire, MI on Monday October 9th at 1:00 PM. Military Rites will take place at 1:30 and friends and family will be encouraged to stay, visit with the family, and pay their respects and tributes to Dar.
