Born on August 10, 1951, in Chicago, Illinois, David's journey through life was one filled with joy, close-knit family bonds, and an unwavering sense of adventure that brightly colored the lives of those around him.
Known as a loving father, brother, grandfather, and friend, David leaves behind a legacy of warmth and generosity. His children, Jill (Scott) Cavenaile and David (Sara) Benton Jr., carry forward his spirit of compassion and strength. David's memory will also live on through his siblings, Lois (Mike) Augustson, Doug (Debbie) Benton, and Linda (Tom) Piacentine, who shared in the laughter and love that defined his existence. His four grandchildren (DJ, Isabella, Addison, Alex) will remember him as a beacon of guidance and unwavering support, a testament to David's deep-rooted love for his family.
A proud and accomplished pipefitter, David's professional career was characterized by dedication and a remarkable ability to problem solve, attributes that commanded respect from his peers within the industry. Appreciated for his work ethic and camaraderie, David fostered relationships that went far beyond the workplace.
Beyond his work, David was gifted with intelligence and curiosity that drove him to complete a Master's degree, enhancing both his career and personal growth. A believer in education's transformative power, he was an encouraging presence in the academic pursuits of his children and grandchildren.
David found joy in the tranquil greens of golf courses, early morning water ski runs, and the soothing sway of a boat on the open water. These passions allowed him to not only indulge in the beauty of the outdoors but also to connect with friends and loved ones during countless treasured moments.
Described as loving and kind, David embodied these attributes in every aspect of his life. His hands were not just handy but were reaches of support and pillars of reliability for all who knew him. Always ready with a warm smile or a word of encouragement, he had a unique ability to light up a room and provide solace during times of need.
David John Benton's distinguished presence will be profoundly missed, yet his spirit will continue to guide and inspire those who were fortunate enough to know him. Arrangements have been entrusted to Bowerman Funeral Home in Eau Claire, Michigan. A public visitation will be held from 10:00-1:00 at Bowerman Funeral Home in Eau Claire on Sunday June 29. Following the visitation, a Celebration of life will be held at the Indian Lake Yacht Club from 2:00-5:00 PM.
