Linda Diane Preston, a beacon of love and kindness, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on April 7, 2025, at Corewell Health in Saint Joseph, Michigan. Born on May 18, 1957, to Perry Dean Clark and Donna Mae (Neitzel) Clark, Linda's life was a testament to the power of selfless love and the joy of family.
Linda's journey began in the same town where she would later build her life and legacy. She was a devoted sister, a cherished wife, a loving mother, and an adored grandmother. Her family was her pride and joy, and she poured her heart into creating a warm and welcoming home for them. Linda was preceded in death by her parents and two siblings, Carol Schlitt and Dan Clark, whose memories she held close to her heart.
The love story of Linda and Roger Dale Preston began at Trinity Lutheran Church in Berrien Springs, Michigan, where they were united in marriage on March 1, 1980. Their partnership was one of mutual respect, unwavering support, and endless affection. Together, they welcomed three children into the world: Melinda (Joshua) Rybicki, Megan Preston, and Nathan (Kristi) Preston. Linda's role as a homemaker was one she embraced with every fiber of her being, creating a nurturing environment that allowed her family to thrive.
Linda's legacy is carried on by her husband, Roger, her three children, and her ten grandchildren: Bruce, Brandon, Bradley, Landon, Riley, Noah, Jack, Jacob, Bradee, and Geni. Each grandchild was a precious gem in her life, bringing her immeasurable joy and pride. She is also survived by her five siblings: Larry (Chana) Clark, Debra Johnson, Lorayne (Doug Spitzer) Clark, Jeffrey (Jeannie) Clark, and Valerie Clark, who will forever cherish the memories of their dear sister.
Throughout her life, Linda was deeply involved in her community, volunteering at the Berrien County Youth Fair since 1980. Her commitment to service was a reflection of her generous spirit and her desire to make a positive impact on the lives of others. Linda's interests were as varied as they were delightful. She had a passion for word search puzzles, which provided her with hours of quiet enjoyment. Her collection of gnomes was a whimsical expression of her personality, each one carefully chosen and lovingly displayed.
Linda's adventurous spirit shone through in her love for sluicing for gems, a hobby that allowed her to explore the beauty of nature and the thrill of discovery. She was also an avid player of shuffleboard, enjoying the camaraderie and friendly competition that came with the game. Watching her grandchildren grow and flourish was perhaps her greatest interest, as she took every opportunity to be involved in their lives and celebrate their achievements.
Described by those who knew her as loving, kind, and selfless, Linda's presence was a gift to all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her gentle spirit, compassionate heart, and unwavering dedication to her family defined her life and left an indelible mark on the hearts of those she touched.
Linda Diane Preston's life was a beautiful tapestry woven with love, kindness, and selflessness. As we bid farewell to this remarkable woman, we take solace in the knowledge that her legacy will live on through the lives of her family and the many people she has inspired. Her spirit will continue to guide us, and her memory will be treasured forever.
