Sonie Jean Paustian

Sonie Jean Paustian, aged 76, passed away peacefully on March 2, 2025, in Eau Claire, Michigan, surrounded by the love of her family. Born on December 1, 1948, in Benton Harbor, Michigan, Sonie was a beacon of joy and kindness to all who knew her.

Sonie spent over three decades serving her community as a dedicated waitress and cook, bringing smiles and satisfaction to countless patrons with her culinary skills and warm conversation. Her commitment to her work was matched by her devotion to her faith as a long-standing member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, where she formed many cherished friendships.

An avid polka dancer, Sonie's love for music spanned from the rock and roll of the '50s to the '80s, often filling her home with lively tunes and laughter. Her passion for life extended to her role as a breeder of dachshunds, where she nurtured many beloved pets with the same love she gave to her family and friends. Sonie's kitchen was a haven of delicious aromas, as she delighted in cooking for those she loved.

Described by those who knew her as loving, kind, and friendly, Sonie's legacy is carried on by her son, Jerry Harry; her siblings, Darlene Paustian, Marlene Lietz, Duane Paustian, and John Paustian; and her adored six grandchildren, Krystal May Rhodes, Jack Reynolds, Mark Reynolds, Jasmine Harry, Tiffany Keeley, and Jaycob Allsopp. Also surviving are nineteen great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Irving and Maxine (Loveland) Paustian, a daughter Josanna Reynolds, and a sister Donna Lynn Harper.

Sonie's life was a testament to the power of kindness and the joy of living each day with an open heart. Her memory will be treasured and kept alive in the stories and laughter of her family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the American Heart Association.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Bowerman Funeral Home in Eau Claire. A graveside service will be held on July 12, 2025 at Shanghai Cemetery on Park rd in Eau Claire at 2:00 PM. A gathering of family and friends will take place at a date later in the fall to remember Sonie.
