Stephen E. Hartman

Stephen Hartman, 77, of Berrien Center, died Tuesday, June 25, 2019, at West Woods of Bridgman.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 29, at Bowerman Funeral Home in Eau Claire, where friends are invited to visit beginning at noon. Stephen was born June 6, 1942, in Benton Harbor, the son of Charles and Barbara (Babcock) Hartman, and he grew up in Sodus. He worked as a pipefitter for AM General in Mishawaka. He was a very generous man who loved his family. His leisure enjoyments included hunting (deer, fox, bear) and being a Detroit Lions fan.

Survivors are his wife, Brenda, whom he married Oct. 23, 1994, in Las Vegas; daughters: Barbara Kirby of Stevensville and Julie (Terry) Carlson of Benton Harbor; brother, Charles “Bob” (Jeanne) Hartman of Stevensville; stepsons: James (Jolyn) Ford and Jeremy (Erica) Ford of South Bend and Michael (Angel) Ford of Berrien Center; five grandchildren: Nycole, David (Sara) and Dustin Kirby, Micayla and Devon Carlson; four great-grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son-in-law, David Kirby; mother-in-law, Margaret Henson; and step-granddaughter, Megan.
