Thomas Dale Davis, of Eau Claire, passed away on his 85th birthday surrounded by his family on Friday, March 29, 2019. Tom was born to Ben and Alta Davis in Batesville, Arkansas in 1934. He was a graduate of Eau Claire High School in 1952.
Tom married Nancy Lou LaVanway on September 4, 1954, at Congregational Church in Eau Claire. They spent 64 years together. Tom was an over-the-road truck driver to provide for his family. His entrepreneurial spirit led him to start TDO (Thomas Davis Organization) lawn care service, now known as Yard Barbers - owned and operated by his grandson, Matthew Layman. He enjoyed collecting antiques from model cars to full-size tractors.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy; children, Dale (Marlene) of Hagar, Doug (Linda) of Eau Claire, Darryl (Lydia) of Eau Claire, and Debra (Kevin) Layman of Eau Claire; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sibling, Benny Davis; and many nieces and nephews and their families.
He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings: Ralph, Jerry, Jim and Jean; and his nephew, Teddy Davis.
A celebration of life service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 3, at Bowerman Funeral Home, 6635 E. Main St., Eau Claire, with Pastor Tom Spitters officiating. Tom Davis will be laid to rest at Caldwell Cemetery, Eau Claire. Friends may visit from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, April 2, at the funeral home.
