Eau Claire

Virginia Ardis (Franz) Skibbe, a beacon of love and selflessness, passed away peacefully on April 14, 2025, in Eau Claire, Michigan. Born on December 15, 1944, in Sodus, Michigan, Virginia's life was a testament to her unwavering kindness and dedication to others.

Virginia's early years were spent in the nurturing company of her parents, Stanley Franz and Alice (Truhn) Franz. She grew up alongside her siblings, forming bonds that would last a lifetime. Although she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, George Kenneth Skibbe, her cherished son, Scott Kenneth Skibbe, and four of her siblings, Bernice Wicker, Eldon Franz, Doris Culbertson, and Ron Franz, Virginia's legacy of love continues to shine through the lives she touched.

Virginia’s legacy and love will be carried on by her surviving family which include, her daughter Heather Nicole (Skibbe) Poole and her Husband Daniel Poole, her two grandchildren Parker Kenneth Poole and Chase Harris Poole, and two of her siblings Lois Akright and Beverly Orvis. They all will cherish the memories, love, and selflessness Virginia gave them over the years.

A lifelong learner and educator, Virginia's academic journey led her to earn an Associate's Degree from Lake Michigan College, a Bachelor's Degree from Western Michigan University, and a Master's Degree in Education from Andrews University. Her passion for knowledge was only matched by her desire to impart wisdom to others, which she did with grace and enthusiasm as an elementary school teacher at Berrien Springs Public Schools.

Virginia's influence extended beyond the classroom, as she served diligently on the finance committee at Eau Claire Library and indulged her love for the arts at the Chapel Hill Arts & Crafts Show. Virginia served in many roles and capacities throughout many organizations. She served on the Finance committee and helping with funeral luncheons at Chapel Hill where she would make her famous brownies. At school she served on the improvement committee and was often her students’ favorite teacher.

Virginia's character was the epitome of loving-kindness. Her selfless nature was evident in every aspect of her life, from the way she nurtured her students to her involvement in her community. She had a unique ability to make each person feel valued and loved, and her presence was a source of comfort and inspiration to many.

As we bid farewell to Virginia, we celebrate a life beautifully lived. Her memory will be cherished and kept alive by the countless hearts she warmed and the lives she enriched. Virginia Ardis (Franz) Skibbe will be deeply missed, but her spirit will continue to guide us, reminding us of the power of kindness and the beauty of a selfless heart.

In honor of Virginia's life and legacy, her family and friends will gather to share memories and celebrate the joy she brought into this world. Her journey on earth may have ended, but the impact of her love and kindness will be felt for generations to come.
